This walking itinerary is operated in the Northern part of Ecuador where you encounter remote and pristine areas. It is an ideal package for walkers who just begin, for families, and those who want to escape the hustle and bustle for a couple of days.

The package includes one of the most varied walking experiences where gentle paths bring you to authentic rural villages and communal based projects. You will encounter giant “Frailejones” plants in the Angel National Park and all nights you stay in the comfortable and unique country hotel MuseArt Pantavi.

Visit a bird rescue center and walk to the Peguche waterfall, overnight in Pantavi

On your way to the north you stop at “Parque Condor”, which is a condor and birds of prey rescue and rehabilitation center. Most birds are rescued from illegal captivity or healed from injuries. After this educational visit you start your walk through farm land and a eucalyptus forest to the waterfall of Peguche. From here you will be transported to the special country style hotel Pantavi. You will love this place – a beautiful garden, nice rooms and a lot of art gives you an inspiring ambience.

Travel time 3.5 hours, walking time 2 hours (L-D)

Walk through sugar cane fields and visit a communal project in La Victoria, overnight in Pantavi

Pantavi is located in a green sugar cane valley. You follow a gentle path along water canals and will reach an Afro Ecuadorian village. The local women elaborate pottery and care of their origin. To interact with the community women is a nice experience! Try a freshly squeezed sugar juice – a typical drink in this region. After this walk through the sugar cane fields you will have a short shuttle to a next village. Here you walk on rural roads, meet local people and learn about the agriculture and local products that grow here. Overnight in Pantavi

Walking in El Angel National Park (3900m) and hot springs, overnight in Pantavi

Today you’re going to hike in the special Angel National Park, located at 3900 meters. Today the temperature is lower and it is more humid than your former days. During this impressive walk you cross the typical Paramo highland with its thousands of “Frailejones”. In the afternoon you have time to relax at the thermal hot springs close to the hotel. Travel time 4 hours, walking time 2 to 3 hours (B-L-D)

Walk at the Cuicocha crater lake (3500m) and return to Quito

After a hearty breakfast, you travel through local villages to the next area in approx. 1 hour. You walk a beautiful trail along the crater rim of the Cuicocha Lake where wildflowers, orchids and other typical highland vegetation adore the environment. Excellent moments will allow you to photograph both the flora and the beautiful nature views. Today you have the option to walk around the lake or just do a part of the trail.
From here you will be transported back to Quito. Travel time 4 hours, walking time 3 – 5 hours (B-L)
